During the great Victorian Covid 19 lockdown we were constantly hearing how we are all in the same boat…. This phrase kept echoing all around. It caught my (and everyone elses) attention.
But, are we all in the same boat? Is there one great big boat? Or, do we have many boats? Are we in the same boat, with all our differences? Are we in our own little boat, or in a boat with others like us?
We are all going through the same “unprecedented” pandemic. We have many similar experiences, but we also have many different experiences, different resources, different attitudes.
What started as a unifying concept has shown more cracks as the emergency drags on and on. there is a danger of it becoming a divisive experience.
Anyway, I have been thinking about boats, and what they may mean to us…
